Topic "Patterns of chaos" (day 1/2 and 5/6)Complexity can be created from simple rules. Drawing on The Mandlebrot Set as inspiration — a self-repeating formula that is used to describe the patterns found in the chaos of nature — explore the sense that is borne from disorder.
In this workshop, Glenn shares his ideas on how we might use the terminology of art and maths to help us notice, rather than force connections. A super-fun workshop for non-linear long form nerds and maths nerds. (No maths knowledge required, though).
Nadine Antler / Steife Brise, Kaktus (Hamburg, Wuerzburg)
Nadine Antler has been involved with improvisation since 1998. She co-founded, and was the Artistic Director of the improvisation ensemble „Der Kaktus“ in Wuerzburg, Germany. She now mainly works with the company „Steife Brise“ in Hamburg, where she has moved about a year ago. Through her improvisation career she has been involved in the development of many longforms and show-formats.

She has been a guest lecturer on improvisation and theatre pedagogics at the University of Wuerzburg. Nowadays she has a strong focus on corporate trainings with the Steife Brise in Hamburg as well as training improvisers and improvisation ensembles around the world.
In 2002 Nadine began to set up the annual Wuerzburgean Impro-Theatre-Festival, which is the biggest improvisation festival of its kind in Europe. For her work with the festival she was awarded with the the "Prize for young culture of the City of Wuerzburg" in 2008.
Nadine has performed and taught at festivals in South and North America as well as Australia and Africa and regularily performs at various improvisation festivals around Europe.
Topic "Make your own kind of music" (Day 3/4)
If you ask improvisers why they go on stage, the answers are often very similar: We love the playfulness, the adrenaline, the joy of failing. Throughout the years our technique has improved, we seem to really understand our craft. In short: It's just so much fun to get up there and play! But is that alone enough? The joy of improvising aside, shouldn't we have something to say? And if so, how can we find a way to let the audience know how we see the world without ranting, moralizing and pointing fingers?
Nadine Antler will focus on the following question: What inspires me to go on stage? Comedian Karl Valentin once said: „Art is beautiful, but it takes a lot of work“. Voicing an opinion means putting in our best effort. With this in mind, we will start asking: What is my message? How is it reflected in the concepts I create? In this workshop the participants will get to the bottom of their own inspiration in order to add depth to their artistic work. Non-improv-typical research included.
